Orphan & Destitute Care

Ashram the home for children, was set up in 1993 to provide for children in crisis due to adverse familial conditions. Starting off with 10 children, Ashram has now nurtured over 100 children directly, and has helped them stand on their own feet.

Out-reach programs supporting families and communities to care for

their children has become a major mission of the Home. More than 500 children and families are assisted by these programs, at any point of time.
Recognized by the Juvenile Welfare Board of Chennai District to provide shelter to abandoned and destitute children, Ashram serves as a Transit Care Centre and as Foster Care and Adoption Centre.

All children attend full time school at a Balwadi nearby. They are given supplementary classes and computer education during evenings and weekends. Regular nutritive diet, with medical care, and field visits with all festival celebrations mark a child’s life in Ashram. Intense efforts are made to strengthen his or her family so that the child can go back to his / her family as soon as possible, in line with the UN Conventions of the Rights of the Child.

A reputed doctor of the area, visits the Ashram regularly and checks the children. She also makes herself available for
bi-monthly medical camps in the local schools organised by Ashram where over 60 children benefit from the free treatment and medicines.
